The ANC in the Free State has learnt with great shock and sorrow about the untimely passing of Comrade Sebenzile Ngagelizwe, who departed the land of the living beings on Wednesday, 29 March 2023, whilst ill at hospital.
We therefore send our heartfelt condolences to the family, comrades, friends and former colleagues of Comrade Ngangelizwe. Comrade Ngangelizwe was a dedicated activist, whose activism was shaped by his involvement in student activism. He later became a dedicated local government activist, leading to him serving as the Executive Mayor of Lejweleputswa District Municipality and Matjhabeng Local Municipality.
Between 2008 and 2016, he served as the Provincial Chairperson of the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) in the Free State. Given his extensive knowledge of the sector, Comrade Ngangelizwe was appointed as one of the Deputy Presidents of SALGA. He served in this position from 2021 until 2022.
Comrade Ngangelizwe also served as a member of the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) over numerous terms, as well as the Provincial Working Committee (PWC). He was an ardent reader who enjoyed making references to literature in his debates. His sharp mind and commitment to the revolution shall be dearly missed. May his soul rest in peace.
We deep our revolutionary banners in honour of this loyal and dependable activist of our revolution. His spirit will forever live on amongst us.
Lala Ngoxolo, Qabane!
END
