The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape strongly condemns the barbaric killing of 79 years old Mama Nomaledi Ngqwenya. Mama Ngqwenya was killed, beheaded and her body dismembered on Tuesday, 7th June 2022 at Indwana New Rest in eCala.
We strongly condemn this despicable incident, we call on the members of the public to always work closely with the police in the fight against crime, and partner with law enforcement agencies in keeping our areas free of criminal acts.
We also urge our law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators of these senseless act of utter barbarism to face the full might of the law.
All South Africans must unite against such barbaric acts and condemns all forms of gender-based violence, which have no place in a democratic, non-sexist and tolerant society.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Ngqwenya family, relatives and the broader community of Indwana New Rest at Cala. Our prayers are with you at this difficult time of mourning.
